Do you like tinkering with your desktop’s hardware to get the most juice out of it? Here’s your chance to tinker AND win more hardware from ASUS and its partners!
Overclocking has been sort of a niche. Most PC users do it, because it brings more speed and power to the table. Some just like to take apart hardware just to see what makes the individual components tick and how to make the whole system better. ASUS Republic of Gamers likes how these people think and rewards their efforts in round two of the 2015 OC Showdown Formula Series. Check out some of the details below:
ASUS today announced round two of OC Showdown 2015 Formula series, the second stage of a global competition that invites enthusiast overclockers from around the world to compete to win both kudos and great prizes. ASUS ROG motherboards and graphics cards are the most popular choice for overclockers as tracked by HWBOT, so the challenge puts the world’s favorite overclocking gear at the center of the global stage.
In co-operation with HWBOT and partners Intel®, HyperX® and Enermax, round two of OC Showdown 2015 Formula series launches today and runs until 20th July 2015. Formula series invites overclockers to compete using an ASUS-branded motherboard, and to cool using only stock air- or water-based equipment. No extreme-cooling equipment or techniques are permitted in Formula-series competition rounds, and overclockers of all abilities are invited to enter. Contestants are encouraged to broadcast their results and comments on both Twitter and Facebook using the #OCShowdown hashtag, and to follow ASUS ROG on Twitter — @ASUS_ ROG.
Accessible overclocking for global kudos and extreme prizes
OC Showdown 2015 Formula’s second round will appeal to anyone with overclocking ambitions, from enthusiasts to first-time tweakers. To ensure a level playing field for all entrants only traditional air- or water-cooling rigs are allowed, meaning off-the-shelf equipment that can be purchased, installed and operated by anyone — regardless of experience. The chosen cooling apparatus must be attached to a system based built with an ASUS-branded motherboard.
This second round is divided into three accessible-but-challenging stages, with contestants required to measure their overclocking successes with Intel Extreme Tuning Utility (XTU), GPUPI for CPU and HWBOT Prime. Full competition rules for the round two of OC Showdown 2015 Formula are available here.
Prizes available to winning contestants include the latest ROG Rampage V Extreme gaming motherboard, an Intel Core™ i7 5930K processor, HyperX Predator DDR4 memory and an ASUS Strix GTX 980 graphics card. Other prizes to be won are ROG’s Maximus VII Gene micro-ATX (mATX) gaming motherboard, a Liqmax 120/240 CPU cooler from Enermax and a HyperX Savage SSD. A lucky draw will also run throughout the duration of the competition offering a variety of randomly-awarded prizes, including T-shirts, headset holders and an Enermax Ultrabox drive dock.
