When you get that sudden urge to upgrade your phone in the dead hours of the night, there’s no need to wait the next day to go to a mall.

In an effort to make mobile devices more accessible to Filipinos, Starmobile has adopted a creative strategy: to sell their products in 7-Eleven convenience stores.

This is the first time this has happened in the Philippines when it comes to gadgets. Usually, only something like Pocket WiFi units are being sold at 24-hour convenience stores.

Included in the initial rollout are the Rotonda (Pasig City), One San Miguel, Avenue (Mandaluyong), National University, Far Eastern University, University of the East, and University of Santo Tomas branches. Over 60 more stores will be joining in on the new marketing direction.

What’s great about this move by Starmobile is that 7-Eleven stores have pay-to-charge corners as well, so if you (unfortunately) lose your phone in a flood, you can get to a 7-Eleven quicker and even charge up the emergency phone you just bought so you can contact loved ones. No word yet on whether Starmobile will have flagships at 7-Eleven.
