Twitter was in the news, both for good and bad. As they roll out new features for the social platform. Check out more of them after the jump.

Twitter is one of the most popular social media platforms and has, for the most part of its life, been true to its roots: a form of real-time, text-based, micro-blogging platform. However as technology marches ever forward, the inclusion of photos and videos have eventually found themselves a natural part of Twitter’s evolution.

Now, Twitter has announced that it’s rolling out two features for everyone: the ability to capture video via the app itself and the ability to put up group chatrooms with you and your followers. These are part of Twitter’s efforts to become a one-stop-shop-social-media-platform for its users.

In addition to 140-character tweets, you can no add a quick video to your posts. Twitter’s video function allows you to switch to video mode and picture mode with a tap. You can share up to 30 seconds worth of video and you can even edit the videos first with just a few swipes and frame-dragging.

As for the group chat, Twitter takes the next step from direct messaging (or DM) by allowing you to create or join a chatroom of up to 19 other people, and they don’t even need to be following each other! You can share your tweets to them, take a public Twitter discussion into private mode, all from your native Twitter app.

Expect these features to be included in a Twitter update soon.
