The brutal sands of Arrakis are finally migrating to home consoles. Developer and publisher Funcom has officially announced that its open-world survival title, Dune Awakening on Consoles, will launch on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on September 22, 2026.
The console release marks a major turning point for the game, dropping alongside a massive structural update that introduces a highly requested standalone single-player mode, mechanical overhauls, and day-one Xbox Game Pass availability.
Dune Awakening Pricing Tiers
Funcom has confirmed that the console version of Dune Awakening will deliver the exact feature set found on PC, rebuilt with optimized user interfaces and controller configurations. On the performance front, the game targets a fluid 60fps on both PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X via a dedicated Performance Mode.
Pre-orders are currently live across both console storefronts, divided into three distinct digital tiers:
Standard Edition: $49.99
Deluxe Edition: $69.99 (Includes early access head start and bonus cosmetics)
Ultimate Edition: $89.99 (Includes early access head start, expanded survival gear, and vehicle blueprints)
The Definitive Edition: Single-Player and Sandbox Tweaks
The September launch effectively serves as the definitive version of the game, packaging a year’s worth of PC live-service refinements alongside brand-new features. Chief among these is the brand-new Single-Player Mode, allowing gamers to experience the entire Arrakis survival loop completely offline with fully scalable difficulty modifiers. Players can directly customize resource harvesting rates, experience gain, and overall combat difficulty.

The update also introduces the narrative finale to Book One, delivering a concrete conclusion to the title’s cinematic storyline. For multiplayer enthusiasts, the late-game loop has been entirely reconstructed, featuring optional PvE progression rules across the Deep Desert, faction warfare changes, and baseline quality-of-life additions like a vehicle backup utility and base reconstruction tools to prevent progression loss during offline breaks.
Ecosystem Integration and Future Content Roadmap
Xbox players receive immediate day-one access via Xbox Game Pass on September 22. The title is fully Xbox Play Anywhere enabled, supporting cross-play and cross-progression between Xbox consoles and the Microsoft Store PC client. Hardware support has also expanded globally, securing Steam Deck verification alongside official optimization for the ROG Ally, GeForce Now, and Xbox Cloud Gaming.

Looking past the September launch window, Funcom has already teased a major post-launch content drop slated for later this year. The upcoming free update will introduce The Polar Cap, an entirely new sub-zero survival map located at the Arrakis pole, bringing distinct icy environmental hazards and unique biome-specific survival mechanics to the sandbox.
