Over the weekend, Huawei pushed a great quality of life update (or a new thing to play around with – you pick) for the Mate 10 Series of smartphones: face unlock. With two variants added to the phones security features, Huawei hopes both kinds of face unlock modes will help users access their phones faster and keep their phones safer. Note that the Mate 10 series includes the Huawei Mate 10, the Mate 10 Pro, and the Mate 10 Porsche Design.
Once you update your smartphone, check out the quick instructions below:
The newest technology update, Face Unlock, provides users with a third unlocking method for optimal convenience. With this update, users may enable Face Unlock in the “Security and Privacy” submenu which can be found in the phone settings. When accessing the feature for the first time, users will be prompted to enroll their face by taking a clear headshot.
After creating a facial profile, users will have two (2) options to use the Face Unlock update – Direct Unlock and Slide to Unlock. Both Direct Unlock and Slide to Unlock gives users the freedom to choose the option that best suits their preferences and usage.
Direct Unlock allows the users to unlock the device automatically when the screen is turned on and the user’s face is recognized. It works best when the option to unlock the device is enabled, as it allows users to use the update with minimal effort, while the Slide Unlock requires the users to perform a swipe gesture to unlock the device after his/her face is recognized. It also synergizes with Smart Unlock Screen Notifications which blocks notifications from being viewed unless the device is first unlocked.
With the latest Face Unlock technology, Huawei has again proved its continued dedication to deliver meaningful innovation and industry-leading devices to consumers around the world.
